SHOW GOATS

If you are keen to join the show ring, then we recommend you look for breeders who exhibit at shows. They will be able to give you advice and offer stock that is show quality and without faults, as well as eligible to enter the shows. You will often see this term used around the online marketing platforms, sometimes by people who have never attended a show!

Shows are great fun, whether you have a couple of pets or are breeding. Awesome day out for juniors and children, as well as those interested in finding out more about confirmation and type.

If you are looking at older or breeding stock, ask how many show points the animal already has. You’ll need to ensure the animal in question is within show height – otherwise it may not be eligible. All our MGBA shows are tested animals only – so ask about current and past CAE and Johnes results to ensure the goat will be able to enter the shows. Don’t forget Nigerian Dwarf and Pygmy goats must have DNA parental verification to enter shows – even the wethers
